Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your POY account and the data associated with it, what we delete, and what (if anything) we keep. POY is an Android app; you can delete your account at any time from inside the app, and you can also request deletion by email if you no longer have access.

Delete your account from the app

1. Open POY and go to Profile (bottom of the app).
2. Tap Delete my account.
3. Confirm. Your account and data are erased — this cannot be undone.

You do not need to contact us; the deletion runs automatically.

Request deletion without the app

If you can no longer sign in (for example, you have changed phone number or uninstalled the app), email privacy@heypoy.app from a contactable address and ask us to delete your account. We may need to verify your identity or ownership of the account before we act. We respond within 30 days, in line with UK GDPR.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

• Your account and sign-in identifier (phone number).
• All photos and posts you created, including the stored image files.
• The votes you cast, and your votes are removed from other people's posts.
• Reports and support tickets you submitted.
• Your user record (settings, blocks, counters, notification token).

Because POY is anonymous and ephemeral, your posts already disappear within 24 hours and carry no profile, name, or contact details.

What we may keep, and why

We retain only the minimum required by law or for legitimate, limited purposes, and never your photos:

• Safety and legal records. Where we have actioned content for a serious reason (for example child-safety or other illegal-content removals), we may retain a limited record and preserved evidence to meet our legal obligations and to prevent re-registration. • Aggregated, non-identifying analytics. Counts and statistics that cannot be linked back to you may be kept.
• Backups. Residual copies in routine backups are overwritten on our normal backup cycle.

How long it takes

In-app deletion takes effect immediately. Any residual copies (for example in backups) are cleared on our normal cycle. Email requests are completed within 30 days.
